Set up prerequisite resources

For AI Teammates to perform operations, they require certain Kubiya resources to be set up first.

In this page, we'll show you:

Resources to set up before delegating a task

No matter which task you choose to delegate, you will need to set up a runner. A Kubiya runner enables you to run Kubiya Teammates and all of their dependencies within your Kubernetes cluster. Learn more

In addition to the runner, the task you delegate requires certain resources which will vary according to the specific task you're delegating.

To see the Kubiya resources required for the task you want to delegate, start the delegate task flow and see the resources it asks you for. Here's how:

1. Go to the Tasks page

In the top bar, click Teammates. Then in the left side-menu, click Tasks.

2. Click Delegate Task

On this screen, you can see the various out-of-the-box use cases that Kubiya offers. Click on the one that you want, then click Continue.

3. Note the Kubiya resources required

In this screen, you see the input parameters required for the task you selected. Some of these are Kubiya resources and others are not – for our current purposes, we're only interested in learning which Kubiya resources are required.

To do so, simply look for the input parameters that are dropdown selection menus. This is the shortcut to know which resources are Kubiya resources you need to set up.

Once you've taken note of which resources, go ahead and set them up.

Note: If you are delegating a task, you do not need to create a Teammate beforehand. As part of the process of delegating a task, Kubiya will create a Teammate for your task.

So to recap, the prerequisite resources you need to set up in order to delegate a task are:

  1. A runner

  2. All of the resources necessary for your specific task, which you can figure out by starting the delegate task flow and looking at the input parameters that have dropdown menus.

After setting up your prerequisite resources, you can proceed to delegate your first task.
